Attention all Pawrents! It's Time to Ditch the Bowl.

Feeding your dog is a daily task that we often overlook as a simple routine. However, it's important to remember that food is an essential aspect of your dog's life and can be used to stimulate both their physical and mental wellbeing. Many dogs are fed from a bowl, which can be boring and understimulating. In this blog post, we'll explore why you should ditch the bowl and use alternative feeding methods to provide enrichment for your furry friend.

Why Ditch the Bowl?

Feeding from a bowl is a simple and convenient method of providing your dog with their daily meals. However, it can be a monotonous routine that offers no mental or physical stimulation for your pet. Dogs are intelligent animals that require regular mental stimulation to keep them healthy and happy. Feeding from a bowl is not only boring, but it can also lead to overeating, which can lead to health problems such as obesity.

Using Alternate Feeding Methods

LickiMats, Wobbles, and Sumos are excellent alternative feeding methods that provide enrichment for your dog. These methods use the licking action to deliver food, which is soothing and beneficial for dogs with anxiety. They are also great sources of entertainment if your dog is going to be home alone for an extended period of time.

LickiMats

LickiMats are designed to hold your dog's food while they lick it out of the mat's textured surface. The licking action is not only soothing but also helps to release endorphins, which helps to calm your dog. LickiMats are also great for slowing down your dog's eating, which can help prevent digestive issues and overeating.

Wobbles

Wobbles are interactive feeding toys that require your dog to lick their food as the toy wobbles in different directions. The wobbling action keeps your dog entertained and mentally stimulated while they eat. This type of feeding method is perfect for dogs who tend to eat their food too quickly.

Sumos

Sumos are feeding toys that require your dog to roll and play with the toy to release their food. This type of feeding method provides physical stimulation while also keeping your dog mentally engaged. Sumos are perfect for dogs that require a lot of exercise and playtime.

Feeding your dog should be a fun and engaging experience for both you and your furry friend. By ditching the bowl and using alternative feeding methods like LickiMats, Wobbles, and Sumos, you can provide your dog with mental and physical stimulation while also preventing overeating and health problems. These methods are also great sources of entertainment for dogs who are home alone for extended periods of time. So, it's time to ditch the bowl and start providing your dog with a more enriching feeding experience!

Freeze them after you have prepared them to make the fun last longer, and so that there is less mess when they are working the food out of the toys. In each of these is a portion of Hills Tuna Adult Food, some wet food, plain yoghurt as a probiotic, CBD oil to ease anxiety and some salmon oil for a healthy coat. They are then topped off with some biltong gravey and stuffed with a Pets Elite chicken neck, foot or liver sprinkles as an added bonus! These are added into Blue's daily food allowance and get served as her breakfast after a walk.

All of these toys are available on our online store!
